AT&T-Mobile might not be happening after all
In a sneaky Thanksgiving announcement, AT&T says it’s putting aside $4 Billion to cover the breakup fee owed to T-Mobile in the event the merger doesn’t go through.
The combined entity would be the largest mobile carrier in the country, with 43.3% of the market, compared to Verizon’s 34.3%. Is that so different that the government should be intervening here?

Your name in filibuster
Ron Wyden, US Senator from Oregon and recent EFF Pioneer Award Winner, is threatening to filibuster PIPA. That’s a good thing. Among other things Protect-IP will create an internet blacklist for sites like YouTube that even accidentally host infringing content. This covers even innocent things like 12-year-olds singing Christina Aguilera songs.
